Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp fast-action dried yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups of cool water
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cups of bread flour

Directions:

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, add 3 cups of bread flour and salt, mix slightly, then add 1/2 tbsp fast-action dried yeast. Mix together well. Next, add 3 tbsp olive oil and 1 1/2 cups of cool water (add gradually), then combine the mixture with your hands until dough forms. Put some olive oil on your work surface, transfer the dough, and knead it for five to ten minutes or until stretchy.

Step 2

Once done kneading, transfer the dough to an oiled bowl, cover it with a plastic sheet, and proof it for three hours. In the meantime, line a baking tray with parchment paper and set it aside. Now, transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knock the gas out. After this, roll the dough on itself, then sculpt the loaf gently. Place the dough on the prepared baking tray, cover it, and let it proof for 45 minutes to an hour.

Step 3

After this, sprinkle some water on the dough, dust some flour over it, and gently brush it all over the bread. Slash the surface of the dough using a razor to allow the dough to expand. Now, place it in the preheated 425 degrees F oven and put a baking tray with some hot water in the bottom rack. Place the bloomer loaf in the center rack and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
