This 2-ingredient chocolate cake by OnePotChefShow is my go-to recipe whenever I’m craving cake. You won’t be using a box of cake mix for this recipe, not even flour. If you think it’s impossible, I am here to tell you that it is possible. You just need 2 simple ingredients. There are no other hidden ingredients. It is rich, chocolatey, and moist.

It still amazes me that you can make a cake at home with just chocolate and eggs. It has the perfect texture and is surprisingly indulgent. This recipe only takes about an hour or less to make. So, if you are a fan of chocolate cakes, you have to try this recipe at home.

Easy Chocolate Cake Ingredients

  • 10.6 oz of semi-sweet dark chocolate
  • 4 eggs (separated)

How to Make Chocolate Cake

Step 1:

Chop the chocolate into small pieces and add to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, give it a stir and repeat until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. You can also use the double boiler method if preferred. Set it aside to cool.

Step 2:

Separate the yolks from the whites in two different bowls. Set aside the egg yolks.

Step 3:

Beat the egg whites until soft peaks.

Step 4:

Add one egg yolk at a time into the melted chocolate, stirring after every addition.

Step 5:

Add 1/3 of the whipped egg white and gently fold it in. Repeat with the remaining whipped egg white.

Step 6:

Line a cake pan with parchment paper and grease with oil. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

Step 7:

Place in a 170C or 325F preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Once done baking, remove from the oven and let the cake sit in the pan on your counter for about 10 to 15 minutes. It will gonna drop down a little bit as it cools. To remove, carefully run a knife around the outside edge. Place the serving plate on top and flip. Carefully lift the tin and remove the paper.

Step 8:

If you’re going to add frosting, let it cool completely. You can also drizzle your favorite sauce or sprinkle powdered sugar on top. Slice and serve. Enjoy!
