I’d always thought the way to fix a broken zipper was to cut some of the teeth out and slide the zipper back over from that point. Well, that’s one way to do it, but it doesn’t always stay.

I didn’t know about this solution to a broken zipper and wanted to share it with you today. It’s a really easy fix…actually easier than cutting some of the teeth from the zipper to slide it back on. That’s not always a permanent fix. There’s nothing more frustrating than to pull up a zipper and have it split on you. The slider part is attached to only one side, or you think you’ve zipped but then the thing unzips from the bottom. Or even worse, the whole zipper slider slides off entirely.

I have always done the method my Mom taught me…to cut a few zipper teeth off and ended up sewing where I cut so the zipper wouldn’t slip off into that area. Then, I stumbled onto this tutorial for an easy way to fix a zipper and it never occurred to me what the real problem was!

Watch how Science Sir really fixes a zipper in the attached step by step tutorial.
