One thing I love about quilts is how you can make different patterns by just piecing different fabrics together and the freedom to choose any combination of colors and prints that you want. One of my favorites to make are flower quilts, I always have the most fun making them, and they are often very easy, too!

This poppy quilt block is a beautiful project that uses different coordinated print fabrics and it’s so easy to piece together, and even beginners can give it a try. Learn how now by following the instructions written down below and while you’re at it make sure to watch this video tutorial by Teresa DownUnder on YouTube as well.
Step 1
Cut 4 squares in different red print fabrics at 6½ inches, then cut 8 squares of white fabric at 3½ inches, and 4 squares of black print fabric at 2 inches. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the background square, then grab a red square, and place one white square on one corner with their right sides facing.
Step 2
Make sure that the marked line on the white fabric is placed properly as shown in the video, then pin them together, and stitch them along the drawn line. Trim off the excess layers with ¼ inch seam allowance, then press the fabric nicely, and repeat the same steps to the other corner.
Step 3
Draw a diagonal line at the back of the black squares, then place 1 black square on the bottom corner, and stitch along the line. Trim off the excess layers, then press the block nicely, and set it aside. Do the same steps to make 3 more identical blocks, then assemble them as demonstrated in the video, and stitch them making sure to nest the seams. Give it a good press and you’re done!
