Whenever I need to take my mind off of something or I want to pass the time, quilting is always my go-to activity. It’s my favorite hobby and not only was I able to keep myself busy, but I also make something beautiful at the same time. One of the most recent projects I’ve made is this one by Teresa DownUnder on YouTube called Swing in the Center Quilt Block.

At first glance, you may think that this is too difficult for a beginner in quilting but don’t worry because the steps are very simple and easy to follow, and I assure you that you can do this perfectly even on your first try. Go ahead and learn the steps written below and while you’re at it watch the video tutorial as well for more details.
Cutting Requirements
Step 1
Draw a diagonal line on the back of the 4 aqua squares, then place 1 on the corner of a red square with their right sides facing, and stitch along the drawn line.
Step 2
Trim off the excess ¼ inch away from the line, do the same to the rest of the corners, and press them open as you go.
Step 3
Draw a diagonal line on the back of 3 aqua squares, stitch them in 3 corners of the white square, and press the seams nicely. Repeat the process to make 3 more pieces and set them aside.
Step 4
Make 4 flying geese units with 4 navy rectangles and aqua squares, repeat the same with the remaining navy rectangles and yellow squares, and assemble the units as demonstrated in the video.
Step 5
Stitch the flying geese units together, then start sewing the pieces per row, and then the rows to each other pressing the seams as you go.
