Quilting is such a fun hobby and with all the options and variety of projects that you can try, it can be tough to choose just one. But, if you want something fun and interesting, then I suggest you try a textured quilt block, just like this origami flower quilt block by Teresa DownUnder on YouTube.

This particular project caught my interest because it looks complicated to make, but I’m still willing to give it a try. However, it’s surprisingly easy to make, and even beginners can give it a try! If you don’t believe me, then check out the video tutorial below, and see for yourself.

Step 1
Cut the print fabric into a 10½-inch square, then fold it in half with its right sides facing, and press it nicely. Fold it across in half, then press well without pressing over the previous line, unfold, and turn it over with its wrong side up. Fold in all 4 corners toward the center, then press each corner carefully, and pin them together at the center.
Step 2
Carefully flip them over, then fold back both sides of the square letting them meet in the middle, and press along the crease. Unfold and do the same fold in the opposite direction, then make the petals as demonstrated in the video, open each petal, and pin them in place.
Step 3
Now, form each petal nicely, then stitch each petal in the middle, and stitch a button in the center where all the petals are joined. Unfold the base, then stitch a 5×3½-inch strip on each side, and then add an 11×3½-inch strip at the top and bottom to complete the block.
