Every year for Easter, my family and I would always try new themes to decorate our house from the living room up to the yard, and for this year, we decided to try making different versions of gnomes. One of my favorite DIY projects was this one by Sarah Nenni-Daher on YouTube! This was just so adorable and looks perfect in our living room along with the other gnome treat holders that we made. Check out this tutorial and see for yourself.
Step 1
Start by cutting the fabric pieces according to the pattern, then proceed to put together the hat pieces, and glue or sew the brim in place. Next, cut the fabric pieces for the ears, glue or sew them together with their right sides facing together, and turn them right side out making sure to poke the corners nicely. Place the ears in between the layers of the hat on the curved sides, then position them as the pattern requires, and secure them in place with fabric pins.
Step 2
Now, proceed to the body of the gnome, glue or sew the bottom edges together, then pull apart the sides, and fill it with the stuffing of your choice. Using an embroidery thread, sew around the top of the body piece with a running stitch, then cut out the fur piece for the beard, and adhere the round wood piece in between the fur’s backing as shown in the video. Cut and put together the pompom tail, then adhere them to the body of the gnome including the beard pieces, and hat securing them in place. Decorate as desired and you’re done!
