I was searching around on Pinterest for something else when I ran across this great tutorial for making a cape type poncho and I had been looking for something I could throw on easily, that would keep me warm.

The blanket coat, poncho or cape is this fall’s coziest trend. These chunky capes are seen in checks, stripes and southwestern prints are great thrown on over any outfit come rain or shine.

Capes and ponchos are so popular this winter, and they’re a fun alternative to cardigans and jackets, so today I’m excited to show you how to make one.

Honestly, these are so quick and easy to make, you can whip one up in just a few minutes!

I found this luxurious tweed woven material at my local fabric store and just had to make something using it. There was a black and white version too so I picked up a couple of yards of each.

I found this great tutorial and in the end this shape seemed to work great and fitted how I wanted to it.
