I wanted to create something unique for my hubby for his birthday and being married for over 20 years. It was hard to decide what to make him since men are so hard to buy for.
I just happened to go to an arts and crafts show and a vendor was selling porch swings for $150.00 each. These swings appeared to be cheaply made, which got me to thinking about how I could make one of these.
I decided to wait and look up how to make one of these, when I got home since this gave me an a great gift idea. After finding this tutorial, I ended up driving around looking for some pallets. I lucked out when I spotted some by a dumpster in an industrial area.
With the pallets and a few items I had to purchase at the local hardware store, I was ready to make my husband a pallet porch swing. I could envision it hanging from one of our big old tree in our back yard and knew he’d be tickled to get such a cool gift…especially since I made it! You too can make this inexpensive porch swing for half the cost!
There are nearly limitless uses for pallets for anyone with some imagination and time. The pallets can be broken down into separate boards to be used for building small furniture items or crafts like this DIY project I’m sharing with you today!
