Since cranberries are now in season, what is a better dessert recipe than Grandma’s fresh cranberry fluff? The best thing about Rockin Robin Cooks recipe is that it uses real ingredients! I am telling you the taste and texture are so much better when you make them from scratch instead of using ready-made products in stores. You can control the amount of sugar, which is great, especially if you want to limit your sugar intake.

Easy Cranberry Fluff Ingredients

  • 12 oz bag of fresh cranberries (rinsed)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 apple
  • 1 orange
  • 3/4 to 1 cup of sugar
  • 15 oz can crushed pineapple (drained)
  • 1/2 cup of walnuts (chopped)
  • 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream (organic if possible)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (organic)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons of sugar

How to Make Cranberry Fluff

Step 1:

Place a saucepan over medium heat, then add the water, sugar, and cranberries. Cook until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens. It will take about 5 minutes. In the last minutes, turn the heat down to low. Be careful, as the cranberries can burst and get you burned.

When done, make a taste test. Adjust the amount of sugar if needed.

Step 2:

Remove the saucepan from the stove and let the cranberry sauce cool for about 5 minutes. You can leave it on the counter to cool completely or into a bowl of ice water to speed up the cooling process.

Step 3:

While waiting for the sauce to cool, core, peel, and chop the apple. Add to the sauce so it doesn’t turn brown. Next, add the pineapple, walnuts, orange zest, and orange juice. Stir to combine.

Step 4:

Pour the heavy cream into a mixing bowl, then add the vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Whip on high until stiff peaks.

Step 5:

Fold the whipped cream into the cranberry sauce. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy!
